This was
recorded live (although without an audience) at the Red Parrot, Northbridge
in May 1986 for a proposed live compilation of Perth bands under the banner
of a label called Cherrytop Records. The LP was to feature other local artists
such as the Kryptonics, Errol Tout, Kno Matter and others, but never eventuated.
This recording was made while the Waltons were still a three-piece outfit,
prior to ace guitar picker Tennessee Walton's joining. |

This pair
of songs come from a performance taped around October 1986 at Novaks (aka
the Groove Tube), a bar in Northbridge which the Waltons had a Sunday night
residency at for several months.

My Husband
Beats Me / Coca-Cola Is Coke (Easter Records MR-7038)
This
is the first Waltons single. These songs were recorded at James Hewgill's
Northlake Studios sometime around August 1986. The front cover art was by
Fred Gilbert, and trumpet on "Husband" was provided by "Huck"
Walton (alias Adrian Wood). The single was released in May 1987. A third song
from the sessions "Feel For The Land" was not issued. This
single enjoyed a great amount of success on the local independant record charts. |

Coast
To Coast / We're The Waltons (Easter Records ?)
The second
Waltons single. These songs were recorded once again at James Hewgill's Northlake
Studios, probably sometime during 1987. The front cover art was by Fred Gilbert
again. The single was released in March 1989. Around this time, the Waltons
also recorded "My Baby Left Me For A Truck Driving Man", which they
gave to the student radio station 6UVS "Drivetime" compilation album
"Farewell Hometown Kiss". An indeterminate number of other songs
were recorded at Northlake Studios but never completed. |

Cherry
/ Creepy Crawly Man (not issued)
These
two songs were to have been the third Waltons single. The band recorded
them at Planet Studios around the middle of 1991. The songs were co-produced
by the Waltons and Dom Mariani (ex Stems). It is not known at to the reasons
why Easter Records never released this single, but it is a shame nonetheless.

This
is a CD compilation that collects all eight of the Waltons studio sides
together, and then continues with the larger part of an energetic live
gig at the Coronado Hotel in 1991, concluding with a very rare Waltons
song "Lost In Suburbia" taken from a Coronado soundcheck (the
song itself was briefly in contention for the B-side slot of the band's
third single). This compilation has mainly only been available to the
band members themselves. A few more recent copies of this CD have included
the Bobby J Walton solo "You're Lookin' At Country". |
