Culled
from the Monkees eighth album "The Monkees Present", these two
songs were recorded the previous year, but only able to be considered
for release now, because by this time, the three remaining Monkees had
gained full artistic control over what was issued on record. Due perhaps
to a loyal core fanbase, this record still acheived a foothold in the
Australian top 40.
This
was the first Monkees single released on the new orange label that RCA
Australia had just started using. Another new feature of these new labels
was the rather helpful listing of "intro times", that is, the
amount of seconds of instrumental backing at the start of the side before
the vocal comes in, so that any enterprising disc jockey could continue
his patter right up until the very moment the vocalist commenced singing.
For those who are interested in this sort of information, "Good Clean
Fun" has 14 seconds of intro, while "Mommy And Daddy" has
13.
It
would be almost unfair to not point out that - once again - the Australian
arm of RCA manages to incorrectly list the B side as being of the greater
importance.
