WIth
the departure of Nesmith, by 1970 there was very little left of the original
Monkees. Still Monkees in virtually name alone, Micky and Davy featured
on one last LP "Changes". Thanks to that ever-loyal (but dwindling)
fan base, this single, taken from that album, made the Australian top
40, but only just.
This
last single marks the swansong of the Monkees in the Australian singles
top 40 chart, a relatively brief but rather distinguished innings - 15
singles and 4 EPs, 13 top ten hits in all (two of them number ones).
For
the benefit of disc jockeys, "Oh My My" has 14 seconds of intro,
while "I Love You Better" is listed as having only 5, although
I suspect it may actually be a little less than that.
